Emily Roy: Head of Riding School & Dressage Instructor
Role & Leadership: Serves as the Head of the White Fences Lesson Program, where she oversees lesson schedules and school horse care and training.
Credentials: USDF Bronze Medalist; 2025 Graduate of the USDF L Education Program (Judge Training); Earned the USDF University Diamond Diploma in 2024.
Teaching Focus: Specializes in rider biomechanics, position, and alignment for beginner to intermediate riders (Youth & Adults).
Training Philosophy: Focuses on foundational principles (rhythm, suppleness, contact) to help riders build confidence and a deep partnership with their horses.
Continuing Education: Actively studies with top clinicians like Jeremy Steinberg and JJ Tate; currently working toward her USDF Silver Medal.
Key Policy: Requires students to commit to a minimum of six lessons per month to ensure consistent progress and safety.
Emily Roy is the not only the head of our lesson riding school, but also and amazing dressage instructor and trainer.ย She is a huge asset to White Fences Equestrian Center in Austin, Texas. A dedicated instructor in our training program since 2023, Emily applies her classical dressage expertise, especially in rider biomechanics, position, and alignment, to help beginner, youth, and intermediate riders build confidence, skill, and deep partnership with their horses.
She specializes in foundational dressage principles: rhythm, suppleness, contact, impulsion, and collection, and brings a compassionate, structured teaching style aligned with the White Fences curriculum.ย Emily supports our lesson instructional team and ensures consistent, high-quality lessons across all levels of our horseback lesson program. Emily is committed to ongoing education, having studied with top clinicians such as Jeremy Steinberg, the late Charles de Kunffy, and JJ Tate. In 2024, she earned her USDF University Diamond Diploma, and in 2025 she graduated from the USDF L Education Program, a nationally recognized credential in dressage judging and theory. She is a USDF Bronze Medalist, working towards her Silver Medal, underscoring her dedication to excellence and rider education. In her leadership role, Emily manages the schooling program: supervising lesson schedules, overseeing school horse care and rotation, mentoring junior instructors, and ensuring our herd meets the highest behavioral and training standards. She continues coaching, training and competing. most notably with Santana, a 2010 Hanoverian gelding she rode to the US Dressage Finals, and NโAbรจlle, a 2019 KWPN mare in training. To ensure progress and consistency, Emily asks her students to commit to a minimum of six dressage lessons per month.
