Dressage Instructor in Austin – Emily Roy

Dressage Instructor & Trainer

Emily Roy is a key instructor in the White Fences Training Program in Austin, Texas, where she applies her expertise in classical dressage and rider biomechanics to help students build strong, confident partnerships with their horses. With a background in both dressage and hunter/jumper disciplines, Emily brings a well-rounded, compassionate approach to every lesson making her a trusted riding instructor in the area.

Since beginning her riding journey in 2004, Emily has cultivated a deep passion for the art of dressage. She specializes in rider position and alignment, as well as foundational dressage principles including rhythm, suppleness, contact, impulsion, and collection. Her patient and structured teaching style aligns closely with the White Fences Equestrian Center curriculum, helping students make consistent, meaningful progress.

Emily actively contributes to the growth of the program by continuing her education with renowned clinicians such as Jeremy Steinberg, Charles de Kunffy (who has unfortunately passed), and JJ Tate. She earned her USDF University Diamond Diploma in 2024 and graduated from the USDF L Education Program in 2025.

Outside the arena, Emily enjoys working with her two horses: Santana, a 2010 Hanoverian gelding with whom she has competed at the US Dressage Finals, and N’Abèlle, a 2019 KWPN mare currently in training. Her long-term goal is to bring Santana to the Grand Prix level.

As part of the White Fences program, Emily requires students to commit to a minimum of six dressage lessons per month to ensure continuity and progress.
